In the months of April and May 2017, with the help of United Nations Development Programme - UNDP, IOM - UN Migration Agency and Global Shelter Cluster, LCED helped setting up 313 shelters for displaced households in Mundri town, Western Equatoria State. The IDPs had left their homes in Mundri East county due to fighting, since December 2016.
In October 2016, LCED led an inter-agency assessment in Mundri West, Mundri East and Mvolo Counties (WES). NGOs which participated to the assessment include: Action Africa Help (AAH), International Aid Service (IAS), Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP), Afro-Canadian Evangelist Mission (ACEM), African Health Observatory (AHO), Grassroot Relief and Development Association (GREDA), Lacha Community and Economic Development (LCED), Mundri Relief and Development Association (MRDA), Mundri Active Youth Association (MAYA), New Page for Peace and Development (NP4PD), and Young Women Christian Association (YWCA).
In April 2016 LCED took part to an inter-agency Initial Rapid Needs Assessment (IRNA), coordinated by UN OCHA in Mundri East, Western Equatoria state. LCED supported the Oxfam distribution of NFI kits paired with the IRNA in Lakamadi, Kediba and Lozoh.
In March 2016 LCED took part to an inter-agency Initial Rapid Needs Assessment (IRNA), coordinated by UN OCHA in Mundri West, Western Equatoria state. LCED participated as representative of the ES/NFI cluster in the need assessment conducted in Garyia, Landigwa and Bangolo town. The IRNA was also pared with a distribution of survival kits by IOM, female hygiene kits and WASH NFI kits by Oxfam and emergency health kits by Adventist Health International (AHI). The distribution was conducted in Mundri town, Bangolo and Gariya.
In February 2016, LCED conducted a distribution of Shelter/Non Food Item (S/NFI) kits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Mundri West, Western Equatoria State, South Sudan. The S/NFI kits were provided by IOM South Sudan, while the transportation to the area was assisted by UNMISS. The distribution focused on Mundri (town and PoC site), Kotobi, Janga, and Lengwa payams.
In April 2015 LCED, in partnership with IOM and USAID, took part to the distribution of shelter reinforcement kits to IDPs residing in the Protection of Civilian (PoC) sites of Juba.
In 2014, LCED implemented an Agricultural Development Project in Lakya village (Mundri West County, Western Equatoria State), combining agricultural training, sensitization on sustainable development, and basic education for the children. The agricultural training included ox-ploughing, seedling and basic crop production.
Between October 2009 and March 2010, LCED in collaboration with UNFPA conducted several SGBV trainings and sensitization activities for women associations and government officials (at county and state level) in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan. The activities took place in the counties of Yambio, Tombura, Ezo, Nzara, Nagero, Mvolo, Mundri East, and Mundri West, with an average duration of 5 days for each workshop.
